Health Center to Build $1.1 Billion Lab

The Hartford Courant report recently that a Bar Harbor, Maine-based genetics research institute is planning to build a $1.1 billion lab at the UConn Health Center campus in Farmington, Conn.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy made the announcement. A source told the newspaper that the Malloy administration said that The Jackson Laboratory, founded in 1929 and one of the oldest genetic research labs, focusing on mammals, will build the lab that will create more than 650 research-related jobs, as well as 842 construction jobs and an estimated 6,200 spinoff and indirect jobs.
